Descriptive note: From left to right: Anna Josepha, Elizabeth, Anna Maria, Philip Parker and Philip Gidley. Was painted the year Philip, wife and youngest child Elizabeth left for NSW from England where King was to be made Governor Dighton was regularly commissioned to paint portraits of military families. It appears to have been common practice for officers departing for overseas service to have a portrait painted. Family portraits are less common. Purchased Oct 2002
