Descriptive note: Watercolour drawing on ivory miniature, housed in circular gilt metal frame set as a brooch, with glass front, surrounded by a double row of pearls. Encased in a compartment on the reverse of the frame with a glass front and red satin backing is a lock of human hair, light brown in colour. Across the centre of the back is a brooch pin and C-shaped catch. Another portrait of John Louis de Marquet is located at the Mitchell Library, PXD 32.
