Acquisition: Sir Charles Nicholson's family presented the volume in 1924

Binding: 18c. (?) binding of vellum over oak boards (15 mm. thick); spine carries gilt lettering EVANGELIA / CUM/ COMMENTARIIS / DE LYRA / M.S.

Catchwords: Catchwords agree except between quires 31 and 32.

Collation: (8)1-7 (7)8-9 (8)10-15 (7)16 (8)17 (7)18-19 (8)20-22 (7)23 (8)24-26 (7)27 (8)28-31 (2)32 (3)33. Quire 8 lacks its last sheet which was probably blank, quire 9 lacks its first, quire 16 its fifth, quire 18 its sixth, quire 19 its last, quire 23 its fifth, quire 27 its seventh, while quire 32 lacks at least its first sheet and possibly its first two. Ar. is marbled, Br.ÑCv., 48r.b, 243v.b-244r.b, Hv., Ir.ÑJr., Kr. are blank, Ky. is marbled.


Condition: Edges trimmed

Deco desc: red rubrics and running titles; caps alternately with red penÑ work and red, with blue penwork; paragraph marks blue and red; one illuminated initial (40 x 30mm.) in gold, red, and blue on 15r.; three other initials of this kind have been excised.
