Binding: 19th century red morocco gilt which incorporates 17th century Parisian red morocco gilt binding bearing the arms of Anne of Austria.

Condition: Erased coat of arms on f.1r; all large initials and many smaller ones dampened in 16th century.

Deco desc: One-line initials in red ink. Numerous two-line initials in blue or burnished gold flourished with purple or red ink. Folio 1r has a full border of hairline sprays incorporating gold trefoil leaves, acorns, pine cones and strawberry-like fruits; prefaced by an eight-line E initial in burnished gold on white-vine infilled with red, green and blue.

Extent: A + B + 190 + C + D

Foliation: Early foliation omitting ff.73 and 77.

Hand desc: 15th century italian humanist round in dark brown ink with red ink headings
