Acquisition: Sir William Dixson bequeathed the MS. in 1952

Binding: 19c. blue morocco over boards by Charles Lewis; covers bear three fillets (one broad, one thin, one a dotted line) forming centre rectangle with a shield (see below); spine has gilt lettering OFFICIA / red rubrics; caps and fill-ins alternately gold and red, gold and blue; illuminated initials (34 x 25 or 30 x 24mm.) on 1r., 9v., 95v. and smaller ones (18 x 18mm.) at the head of each benediction, all being blue and white, or pink and white letter with green, or red fruit or leaf spray on gold.ECC. ROMANAE / MS. / SAEC.XVI.

Totness (?)Ô and ÔFrom HaworthÕs (?) libraryÕ; gilt tooled on the covers is a shield party per pale, sinister has chevron and three hands, dexter with cross and four stars, the motto is CARPE DIEM; on Ar. also are the notes ÔBound by Charles LewisÕ, Ô154 large initials, 138 leaves of vellumÕ and a brief description of the volume in English; inside front cover is the price Ô[pound sign]6-6-0Õ and the book-plate of Sir William Dixson
