Acquisition: purchased in 1947 from Leo Baer of Paris by Col. R. A. Crouch and subsequently presented to the Gallery

Binding: contemporary calf over oak boards; on the covers are blind-tooled three panels with floral sprays, three interlaced cords and St AndrewÕs crosses respectively, enclosing a centre rectangle in which is a cross whose arms and upright are of interlaced cords. Spine damaged. There are holes in the covers for clasps and pins.




Condition: The text is much rubbed and stained; some legible sections

Deco desc:

Dimensions: Each pair of folios measures 260 x 180 mm., so that each sheet was originally approx. 180 x 130 mm

Extent: four folios: one bi-folio pasted inside the front cover and another inside the back cover; Only one side of each folio is visible


Hand desc: scriptura notularis c.1300 emanating from a Dominican or Franciscan Studium in France; the writing suggests two hands, one by an old man, the other by a younger person


Layout: two cols each of 36 lines
