Deco desc: red rubrics; fill-ins red and blue with white tracery and gold roundels; small initials in gold on red and blue grounds; on the recto side against a blue ground is a large initial in pale red and white tracery, the oval of the letter being gold and carrying blue and red scrollwork. The initial has gold and red marginal extensions which serve as a frame to a miniature; in the margins are gold and blue ivy-leaves on black spiral stems interspersed with blue, green, mauve, and white flowers. The miniature (65 x 60mm.) by an unknown French artist depicts the Shepherds looking heavenwards to scan the banderole with the words ÔGloria in excelso terraÕ, held by an angel.
