Note: Collection of forty-nine Italian historiated initials from four different manuscripts, mounted on 19c. laid paper. One front (A) and one back fly-leaf (B). The fragments are from choir books, two Antiphonals, and a liturgical Psalter. A fourth group of 46 initials portraying human figures in various postures probably comes from a 14th century Canon Law text.

Provenance: Inside back cover is an extract from an English bookseller's catalogue, entry no.678, then the note "R.S. Ldn. IV.04" indicating the year in which the volume was purchased by Robert Carl Sticht; inside front cover is his ex-libris (includes the name of his wife Marion Oak Sticht), with the label of the next owner "A. H. Spencer, 86 Bourke St, Melbourne"; an extract of his sale catalogue is inside back cover with the note "A. H. Spencer 3.4.23"; Ar. has the stamp of the PUBLIC LIBRARY OF VICTORIA with the same date; By. and spine have the Library's shelf-mark *f096/Il.1. The stock no. is 293260.
