Acquisition: Acquired in 1901; 1r. has the stamp PUBLIC LIBRARY OF VICTORIA 22 OCT. 1901 and the stock no."140059"

Binding: 16c. calf over oak boards 10mm. thick. Front cover has five brass studs in quincunx, two pins, brass strips on corners, back cover has only two studs left, but there are two spikes fixed into the bottom edge; also on the covers are fillets forming two panels (each with a series of tall vases and busts) around a centre rectangle with lozenges bearing floral design. The tooling is blind. The spine is re-backed and has lettering LIBER / ANTIPHONARIUS / ROMANUS / (1566), and shelf-mark in gilt.

Deco desc: Red rubrics; caps red, or blue, or black with head in profile near the uprights; initials surrounded by flowers and fruit, in gold, red, bue, green, black. Six historiated initials with woodcut picture portraying Moses and the burning bush (242r.), Jonah (250v., 285v.), Joshua (269r., 353v.), David and Uriah (391r.).
