Ffratres karissimi deum diligentes et in hoc libro eius uerba legentes et secundum ea operantes date gioriam et omnem gratiarum actionem deo [et beate marie][N97] Et orate pro Wistano de Repyngton[N98] priore a quo exemplar recepi de quo istud exemplum tradidi uobis ac etiam pro Roberto Makworth capellano scriptore et factore libri huius. Anno Domini millesieno ccccxxxi in crastino sancti Gregorii pape et doctoris hoc opere consummato deo soil non scriptori gratiarum actio. Amen. Catholicus doctor nicholaus de lyra in expositione super libros biblie apud parisium opus suurn a deo sibi datum consummanit anno domini millesimo ccc0 xxx0 xiii kalend. aprilis; [N97] These three words effaced. [N98] Wystan Porter OSA, Prior of the Augustinian Priory of the Holy Trinity at Repton in Derbyshire from c.1411 to his retirement owing to infirmity and old age in 1436. Unless the ‘exemplar’ mentioned in the explicit was his own, one may assume that it belonged to the Priory. Only one other MS. from Repton is known, cf. N. R. Ker, Medieval Libraries of Great Britain, 2nd ed., London 1964, p. 158. The Order to which Robert Makworth belonged has not yet been identified, so one cannot be certain that the Nicholson copy was at Repton.
